Creative Retirement Manitoba Annual General Meeting 2002


Mayor Glen Murray addresses the 130 plus crowd at CRMs AGM
On Thursday, May 23 Creative Retirement Mantoba held its 21st Annual General Meeting at Holy Trinity Church Hall in downtown Winnipeg. It was well attended, as usual, with 130 plus people in attendance.

Highlights included Mayor Glen Murray, the keynote speaker, and his presentation on "Downtown Revitalization"accompanied with a video of what Winnipeg's downtown will look like in the future.

Isabella Dryden and Jean Johnson were recognized for their many years of computer instruction for CRM. When everyone in the room who had taken a computer class with Isabella and Jean  was asked to standup, a quarter of the room stood up!

President Len Bateman
Len Bateman welcomed all who attended the meeting and introduced Doug Nicholson who gave the financial report. CRM has a small surplus due to a project grant and free office space. The surplus will get used in our move to new premises at 270 Sherbrook St.


Barbara Sparling
Barb Sparling reported on our 20th Anniverasry celebration and upcoming Fall special event with Lloyd Axworthy. Marjorie Wood gave her Executive Manager's report and "state of the union" remarks. Richard Denesiuk gave a demonstration of CRM's "Seniors Resource Network" Internet project.

The Nominating Committee welcomed new board members: Dave Kennedy, Don Ross, Harold Smordin and Archie Speers. The executive committee was declared as: President - Len Bateman, First Vice President - Peggy Prendergast, Second Vice President - Jack Francis, Secretary - Diane De Graves, Treasurer - Gordon Throp, and Past President - Sophie Kolt. The remainder of the board are: Sue Barnsley, Fran Bryd, Tom Graham, Irv Kroeker, Jo Millard, Ron Reader and Manly Rusen.

Barb Sparling thanked our many volunteers and Tom Graham presented Norm Micklewright with an honourary life-time membership in Creative Retirement.
