A Thing of Beauty

by

Peter Warner

Evr'y time I see you near, I vividly recall that time
When first your eyes were meeting mine. You seized my heart,
Your beauty prisoning my being, your voice, a siren song,
And, your sudden smile, conquering soul and spirit.
We created an artist's work, a Grecian urn,
A sculptor's statue, a composer's symphony.
The creation gripped us both, oblivious within ourselves.
Once created, not by others sensed, nor seen nor heard nor felt,
But always with us, our life's companion to cherish all our days.
And then, turning away from the obsessive passion of creation,
We share with the world the abundance of joy inspired
By our work of art, our thing of beauty,
Our love.
