Darkness
by
Christa Froese I who am blind cannot see
The beauty of this world
But I can feel the sunshine
The wind and rain on my face
I hear and feel the winter's rage
But in my darkness cannot see
The whiteness and beauty of snow
I can feel the warm wind
Caressing my face
I can feel and smell the earth
I can smell the flowers
But not see their splendid colours
I can hear the birds sing
But not see them soar high
Against a beautiful blue sky
I can touch your face
Feel its lines and tenderness
The tenderness I also hear in your voice
Your voice is my sight
Sometimes I hear sadness in it
but I cannot see nor touch your pain
I can hear happy children's voices
And miss not seeing them in their play
I also hear the many angry voices in this world
But I do not long to see their angry faces
I can live in my dark world of imagination
And through your words see only beauty
