A Memorable Etching
by
Nettie Stadnyk
Through my cottage picture window
A pleasing serene sight etched in my memoryRooted steadfastly in a Lake Winnipeg dike
Stalwart fir trees, Ted, Nettie and Anne, a bonded family
Adjacent, aligned, abreast a fourth pint-size,
In loving memory of my Mom, all holding hands.
Extended arms full of white cotton balls.Effervescent, children's voices of David and Dalton
Frolicking, tumbling, carefree, pleasure provoking
Lovingly captured by pine-scented needles.
Slowly, silently, a slight stir, releases echoes
Of past summer playful delightful sounds.A heart-warming scene recalled to placate
A troubled mind and lure peace on a sleepless night.
