A Memorable Etching

Through my cottage picture window
A pleasing serene sight etched in my memory

Rooted steadfastly in a Lake Winnipeg dike
Stalwart fir trees, Ted, Nettie and Anne, a bonded family
Adjacent, aligned, abreast a fourth pint-size,
In loving memory of my Mom, all holding hands.
Extended arms full of white cotton balls.

Effervescent, children's voices of David and Dalton
Frolicking, tumbling, carefree, pleasure provoking
Lovingly captured by pine-scented needles.
Slowly, silently, a slight stir, releases echoes
Of past summer playful delightful sounds.

A heart-warming scene recalled to placate
A troubled mind and lure peace on a sleepless night.
