Lonely
by
Jean YoungDo we become lonely?
Of course we do.
Why should nature give us good things
And yet something affects us adversely too?One ponders the situation
And we question what is this about?
It is a fact of life
That no one will doubt.Don't despair when you are lonely
It may be a sign of slowing down.
We can't always be in the middle
Of life's foray all around.Loneliness is an emotion
Such as laughter, sadness and joy.
but it can give us time to reminisce
And give us time to think and enjoy. So, Lord, I think I need some loneliness
To count up what I miss.
Soon I become so busy
Exclaiming what a chore this is.So when we become lonely,
This too is a gift we have been given.
Memories brought forth from early years
And all about our joy of livin'.It seems to spark our memories
Maybe back three scores and ten
Maybe now I am lonely
Because of the great joy of remembering when.We are enjoying good things,
Have had a wonderful time.
Now let us count our blessings
In our lonely time space in rhyme.
