The Meadowlark

by

Listen to the meadowlark
Atop that leafless tree!
Hear his jubilant greeting
Trilled for you and me!
It penetrates the golf course
Sounding loud and clear,
Hark to his cheery message,
"Here I am, right over here!"

He carols a lesson for us
With brilliance, faith, and song;
Reminding us of blessings
that surround us all day long.
Family and friends, beauty and love,
With us throughout the year;
Remember the meadowlark's message,
"Here I am, right over here!"

He asks us to open our minds
In his so cheerful way;
And thinking it so momentous,
He repeats it every day.
Thus we can learn life's lesson
From the meadowlark's winsome song,
Such an important message,
He warbles it all day long.

We'll try to be like the meadowlark,
Cheer others as we strive
To fulfil our daily duties and
Add something to their lives.
When life oft seems uncertain and
The future dark with fear,
Think of the meadowlark's message,
"Here am I, right over here!"
