Susie's Dress

(The Workshop instructor provided newspaper headlines one day. Authors were to compose a poem. This is one of the headlines: "Mother Sues Undertaker for Loss of Child's Clothing", and a resulting poem.)
Well goodness gracious
And golly-gee glory-um
Mrs. Black is suing
The crematory-um
Why is Mrs. Black
in dy-er distress?
It's 'cause they burned her Susan
In the party dress

She's gone and retained
A high-priced lawyer-um
And he's served a subpoena
On the funeral empory-um
How many dollars will Mrs. Black get?

One thousand two thousand three thousand four
Turn the rope faster
She'll be needing more
Five thousand six thousand
Now we're at seven
Susie is the best dressed
Child in heaven

Well goodness gracious
And golly-gee glory-um
Mrs. Black is suing
The crematory-um
Why is Mrs. Black
in dy-er distress?
It's 'cause they burned her Susan
In the party dress
