Village Easter

A joyous, golden yellow
Daffodil dancing Easter,
Romping through the churchyard
Beneath the newly greened up trees.
Inside the old stone church
With its leaded windows,
Before the altar decked with flowers,
The Word of God Proclaims:
"He is Risen! Hallelujah!"
A small boy watches a beetle
As it travels down the side
Of a flower-stuffed jam jar
Standing on the windowsill.
It pauses in a shaft of crimson sunlight
Shining through St. Peter's robe.
