Ageless Heroes Awards

Call for Nominations 2010

The Ageless Heroes Awards recognize individuals for their contributions to the community through their passion for learning and their ability to bridge generations. Creative Retirement Manitoba's Ageless Heroes Awards celebrate the spirit and vitality of men and women over 60 and showcase the commitment of Manitoba Blue Cross to healthy living.

  • The Love of Learning Award will be presented to an older adult who pursues or shares knowledge gained through study or experience.
  • The Bridging the Generations Award will be presented to a senior who is committed to activities that reach out to and earn the admiration of younger persons.

Who can be Nominated

  • any resident of Manitoba who continues to achieve and to inspire others in the category in which they are nominated.
  • who is 60 years of age or older
  • whose activities took place in Manitoba
  • whose contribution is not primarily financial in nature
  • whose contribution is not part of his/her duties as an elected official
  • active board members and staff of Creative Retirement may not be nominated
  • previous nominees who were not Award Recipients


Judging

  • A panel of independent judges will select a winner in each category.
  • The awards will be presented at the Creative Retirement Annual Luncheon.

How to submit a nomination

1. Complete the nomination form in full and provide a written statement telling us what makes this person exceptional Nomination Form for printout here

  • If you are nominating for the Love of Learning Award, describe the traits and activities that demonstrate the ways in which the person pursues knowledge and shares it. Show how the person is an inspiration to others.
  • If you are nominating for the Bridging the Generations Award, describe the ways in which the person relates successfully with children and young people, and how these relationships are a contribution to individuals and the community.
  • Illustrating attributes such as leadership, courage, persistence, initiative and imagination may help you to make your case.

2. Include additional letters of Support from two other persons.

3. You may include printed material to support your nomination: newspaper clippings, letters or testimonials directly related to the activities for which the individual is being nominated. A total of four pages of supplementary material may accompany the nomination form.

4. Deadline for completed nominations is September 20, 2010.
