I am taking by prescription prozac and surmontil. Is is ok to take on my own an herb Yohimbe bark extract while taking the two drugs?
Yohimbine is chemically similar to reserpine - it is a potent blocker of the sympathetic nervous system - in the central nervous system it produces a complex pattern of responses which is likely to interfere with the action of surmontil, a tricyclic antidepressant drug - for this reason alone don't take it - in addition it may interfere with the balance of effects between prozac and surmontil.
