Questions and Answers

Q

My child is two years old. She has asthma. Someone told me to try on propolis with her. Another friend told it has dangerous effects and that many people had died recently. My question is: Is propolis a dangerous medicine? Should I have special cares for its use?

A

All medications are potentially harmful and should be taken at prescribed dosage only for conditions for which they have a proven and established indication (not the case with propolis) - you should have special care for your precious two-year old and use only medication prescribed by your pediatric practioner/respirologist - the only place for unconventional therapy is where the condition is serious and conventional therapy has failed - asthma in the very young often improves as the child grows older.
