Q

MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN PUT ON INJECTIONS OF KENALOG BY OUR DR. FOR HIS ALLERGIES. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS DRUG AND WHAT ARE THE SIDE AFFECTS?

A

Hi Donna ...

Kenalog (triamcinolone acetonide suspension) is a corticosteroid and, like all members of that group, has many potential side-effects. Because of its close similarity to the naturally occuring steroids, it may affect almost any system in the body. Fortunately, all are dose-related so that the dosage used for therapy is chosen not only to be effective but also unlikely to produce much (or any) unwanted effects. Should such occur, things can usually be remedied either by change in dosage or moving to some other class of drug that produces the same desired effect.

Kenalog is extremely effective in the treatment of allergic states. In addition to injection, it or others may be administered effectively by mouth or by inhalation.

Best wishes to you and your husband.
